Royal Academy of Antwerp graduate Glenn Martens has helmed Parisian-based label Y/Project, offering a post-modern amalgamation of references that include gothic grandeur and simple streetwear, since 2013. First a junior designer with Jean Paul Gaultier, Martens left that house to replace the late Yohan Serfaty of Y/Project. Since, Martens has slowly transitioned the brand into something more contemporary and versatile. Y/Project is known for combining conceptual and inventive detailing with playful proportions and a witty take on historical references, offering an eclectic mash-up of styles. Martens’ contemporary expression has created a fascinating narrative for the brand, leading to an impressive period of growth earning both critical acclaim and commercial success.
